Informational Meetings

Many of the colleges and majors offer informational meetings so you can learn more about the academic program and the ICT or application process. Certain majors actually prefer that you attend an informational meeting before attempting to meet with an advisor one-on-one.  The follow colleges/departments offer informational meetings:

  • Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE)
  • Architecture  
    • Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (BS in AS) Program
      Intercollegiate Transfer is the process of transferring from one College to another within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  If you are interested in applying to the School of Architecture, you are strongly encouraged to contact the Undergraduate Office to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

  • College of Applied Health Sciences
    •  Attend an ICT interest meeting to learn about the application and transfer

      Academic advisors will provide an overview of each program, curriculum,
      career opportunities, ICT review criteria, and the application process.

    • The College of Business has scheduled three more information sessions for next week.  They will be held in residence halls and students will have the opportunity to bring their resume to have it reviewed by a paraprofessional from The Career Center.

  • Crop Sciences and Horticulture
    •  
  • College of Education 
    • The College of Education will be holding Informational Sessions for students that wish to transfer into the College of Education. Please encourage your students to attend our informational sessions if they have questions about the application process to the majors of Elementary Education, Early Childhood or Special Education. Attending a session is the BEST way for students to get all their questions answered by an academic advisor. 
      The informational sessions will be held every Tuesday of the Spring semester 4-5pm Education building room 210A. 
    • Current University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students may apply to the Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education majors for their junior or sophomore year respectively.  There are currently 2 application periods to the major for admission to fall 2013:
    • Spring Application Deadline: February 1st. Applications available beginning December 5th.
    • Summer Application Deadline: June 14th. Applications available beginning June 10th.

      Attendance at a meeting is required prior to declaring the major or the minor. Each meeting will last about an hour. In preparation for the meeting, students are encouraged to visit our website at: www.globalstudies.illinois.edu

  • Labor and Employment Relations (LER)
    • LER will host two spring informational sessions for students interested in the School of Labor and Employment Relations for Human Resources and Labor Relations graduate work.

      Our first will be on Thursday, March 7 from 12-1:30 in room 47 LER.  The second one will be on Thursday, April 11 from 5-6:30 in room 35/43 LER. 
  • College of Media 
    • The College of Media will be holding 3 Informational Sessions in the Spring 2013.  These sessions are for the spring application period and if accepted it would be effective for the Fall 2013 term. Please encourage your students to attend one of our sessions if they have questions about the application process or the majors of Advertising, Agricultural Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies and News Editorial Journalism. Attending a session is the BEST way for the students to get all their questions answered by the College of Media Student Service Center. There will be academic advisors there to answer any questions after the presentation.  The same information will be covered at each session, students would only need to attend one session.

      Please note that the deadline for all applications is Feb 28th (Thursday) by 3:00 p.m.

    • Thinking about transferring to MCB?
      Want to learn more about the Major or Minor?
      Attend one of our informational meetings to learn about the program requirements and receive paperwork (if eligible) to officially declare MCB as your major or minor.

      An academic advisor will provide an overview of the MCB program, requirements, career opportunities and the criteria for declaring MCB.
      Interested students should attend only one session. All sessions are identical and typically last 1 hour.

  • Psychology
    • Prospective Student Meetings are designed to be interactive and require preparation** (If you are not prepared for the meeting, we will ask you to attend a future meeting)
    • Visit Room 10, Psychology Building, sign up for a Prospective Student meeting and obtain an informational packet.
    • Generate a Psychology Degree Audit Report (DARS)
    • Carefully review your DARS – any questions about your audit?  Come prepared: highlight, circle, take notes and bring your questions to the meeting.
    • Bring either your printed DARS or electronic DARS on your laptop to the meeting.
